Swift Nesting Boxes
in October 2024, 4 Llan’s Vice Chair Wayne Lewis held a bird box building day in Caerwedros, at the Coffi a Chlonc meeting which is held every last Monday in the month in Neuadd Goffa Caerwedros. Approximately 50 people attended to listen to a talk about swifts and to help with building some boxes. As a result of the meeting, 14 boxes were built and will be installed ready for the Swifts to return to this spring. Read more on our news page.
Hedge Laying
Local volunteers have been learning about and practising traditional hedge-laying techniques. Hedge laying is still a really important way of maintaining healthy hedgerows that create a secure boundary and keep livestock contained. Keeping hedgerows full and healthy provides vital wildlife habitats.
Here are ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos from Caerwedros.
