4 Llan visits to inspirational community energy and community-led homes projects

As part of their new Development Project, 4 Llan Community Land Trust (CLT) is convening visits to community energy projects around Wales hoping to inspire and inform business owners, farmers, and households from the community, and enabling interested local people to visit projects delivering community–led local homes

The visits will demonstrate how generating or using cleaner green energy could lower carbon emissions and reduce costs, supporting business objectives in the medium term and saving householders money. Energy project visits will include learning about the production of biochar and its potential use in agriculture; and the production of community energy (and community funds) from small scale wind and solar projects.

Housing project visits will include a visit to the ground-breaking CarTrefUn group in Hermon, which has achieved the purchase of a closed chapel for community benefit, including plans for local homes.

4 Llan directors also want to learn about setting up a local energy network, which could assure profitability for small-scale local energy generators and reduce costs for household and business consumption or create a local community fund.  They are hosting an open Community Energy meeting on 8th November, 10am-12 midday, in Caerwedros Hall.

4 Llan was set up to enable 4 communities in Ceredigion to develop community-led affordable homes for local people, as well as community energy projects.  All residents in the area are warmly invited to get involved. 4 Llan is especially keen to welcome new members.  Membership of the CLT is open to everyone living locally, and each member has a vote—ensuring that decisions are made by the community, for the community.
