4 Llan supporting Red List Birds at FREE workshops

70 species of bird are now on the Red List of Conservation Concern in the UK, including the Starling, Mistle thrush and House sparrow that were once in almost every garden.

4 Llan wants to help and give these once common residents extra reasons to call this area home. How?  Through free workshops focusing on habitat improvements and building nest boxes.

Our first two workshops will be in Caerwedros Memorial Hall on 22nd November at 10-12 midday and 1-3pm.  They are FREE!  Come along and share knowledge with other volunteers and learn how to construct a nest box from locally sourced timber. Tickets are limited and can be booked at Eventbrite.

These workshops are suitable for anyone with an interest in nature or birds.  You don’t need to be an ornithologist or have any experience at all.  Supervised older children may enjoy this workshop, where they could help make a Christmas bird box for their parents (or for the birds!) Hand tools such as hammers and a traditional hand brace drill will be used.

The workshops are part 4 Llan’s Development Project, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administrated and supported by the Cynnal y Cardi Team for Ceredigion County Council, and Grannell Community Energy.

4 Llan was set up to enable 4 communities in Ceredigion to develop community-led affordable homes for local people, as well as community energy projects.  During early consultations, the community said that supporting nature is important too.  All residents in the area are warmly invited to get involved. 4 Llan is especially keen to welcome new members.  Membership of the CLT is open to everyone living locally, and each member has a vote—ensuring that decisions are made by the community, for the community.
